These are the clear corner lenses (euro and jap. spec)
which are standard features on the 96+ models. The solid fender moldings (without
the amber parking lights) were standard on all euro and jap. spec cars. What you can not see are the new "speed flaps", a 98+
feature that remembers much a mud flap that was mounted in front of the
steering wheels. The Toyota engineers found out that these flaps are reducing
the drag of the steering wheels and thus reducing shimmy at high speed
driving.

This
is a close-up of the 98+ front wheel air deflectors, also known as "speed
flaps". They are mounted on the inner fender liner and protrude over the
front under panel so they deflect oncoming air reducing steering shimmy and
improving high speed stability.
